Hero Healer Focus : Robert H Lustig MD

Robert H Lustig MD is a true Healer. In an age where most doctors exist to perscribe drugs, tout the status quo and profit, Robt H Lustig is taking a real stand and doing real research. We need ten more like him but I am thankful for just one.

Many today consider doctors the third leading cause of death.

Most doctors have just become apart of the corporate machine. They read what those in power want them to read and thus they all say the same things. They are just normal folks who want to buy their kids something nice for Christmas so they do what they can to keep their jobs. The result is we now have a legion of legal drug pushers protected by the government and the pharmaceutical lobbyists. In a time when those who we trust most are being made to hurt us most we have a greater need for real heroes.

Dr. Robert H. Lustig is a hero in my mind. He is the Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, in the Division of Endocrinology Director of the Weight Assessment for Teen and Child Health Program at UCSF. That is just his title at the moment. What he has done to educate people about the true cause of obesity in the USA is an amazing achievement and should be observed by all Americans. His presentation Sugar: The Bitter Truth is a detailed and brave look at how big business has poisoned Americans into an obesity epidemic.

His presentation on sugar and how has been turned into poison had a major effect on me. I based my article on how sugar is the leading cause of obesity primarily on his research. Let us be thankful that there are people like Dr Lustig in the world. He is a hero and an avatar of truth in an age of misinformation and lies.

That was a good presentation. I watched it a few weeks ago. Lost me in a couple of places when my brain realized I wasn’t a Molecular Biologist and stopped trying to understand, but it only added to what I already knew.

I was a soda-instead-of-water drinker most of my life. Some of the things I thought would stop when I quit smoking cigarettes a few years ago didn’t stop until I stopped drinking sodas.
